Participate in the Firefox Screencast Contest and create screencasts for the top 100 support articles on the community-powered Firefox Support site, impacting Firefox users worldwide and win some cool prizes doing it.
First select a topic from the top 100 articles in the Firefox Support knowledge base full of tutorials, how-tos and troubleshooting articles for Firefox written by volunteers of the Mozilla community. When you’ve picked an article, create a screencast for it as per the contest guidelines. Some simple rules are use Firefox 3, use English, create Flash based screencasts, don’t add audio, stay on topic and keep screencasts 640×480 pixels or less.
Judging criteria are based on
(i) Concept/Difficulty of article (25%)
(ii) Production (Aesthetic) quality (25%)
(iii) Completeness (25%)
(iv) How well the submission compliments the SUMO article (25%)
Screencasting is recording video of what you do, or what you see. How do you start screencasting? They suggest using the Jing Project, a free screencast recording software for Windows and Mac. Then submit your screencast online. Last date for entries is June 15, 2008. The best overall screencast will win a Flip Video camera.
