Google Favicon Redesigns for Web 2.0

I was surprised to see Google has redesigned its favicons to display a modern web 2.0 design to all its web properties. The Google favicon, a small logo which is displayed on browser tabs, browser bookmarks and and address bar now sports a cooler look.

Here is what the Google favicon used to look like before…

And here how the new Google favicon looks like now, a shade grayer, with shaded background and in lower case with no border.

Recently they also redesigned their RSS subscribe buttons. See the new look.
