Twitter Has Limits!

The popular Twitter tool has in built limits to control spam and prevent cheats from gaming Twitter. A Twitter limit will only reveal itself when you cross it, which means you’ve exceeded the maximum number of times allotted to perform a given action on Twitter.

Twitter Limits Updates, Messages, Follows, API Calls

Brent Csutoras who was following 2000 people on Twitter, found his account limited when he wanted to follow more people. Similar experience was noted by many more Tweeple recently. However, some people have verified that these limits can change for each person, depending on your Twitter standing.

I am sure there are many friendly people out there who have more than 2000 friends to follow, and this limit will keep some friends out. Many people simply follow back to reciprocate the gesture, but it is difficult to follow the tweets of 2000 people.

Twitter has a help page clarifying the following and update limits. So currently Twitter applies limits to any person who reaches:
* 1,000 total updates per day, on any and all devices
* 250 total direct messages per day, on any and devices
* 100 API requests per hour
* Maximum number of follow attempts in a day

Remember that there is no limit to your number of followers, but just a limit to the number of people you can follow.. This will help to block spammers from gaming the Twitter system. Do you follow us on Twitter?
